Head Boy & Head Girl
Hello and welcome to Wynndale Primary School from us - Head Boy and Head Girl
Our role is to support school in any way that we can. For example, we help Mrs Rickersey by showing special visitors around school and we promote our school values. We also help with Hot Chocolate Friday, where good behaviour and attitude is celebrated. Children earn a special invite to this by following the Wynndale Way; ‘Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Safe.’ Lastly we are developing our role to work alongside our parent group in fundraising events and whole school activities.
Wynndale is a cheerful, exciting school, and is a place where we work hard and children enjoy learning. The teachers help the children to get better at: Maths, English, Drama, Art, Science and P.E. We have an I.C.T room were we learn how to code, and work through other educational games that support our learning. In school, we have IPads and laptops that we can use every so often instead of going onto the computers. We have a library located in the I.C.T suite, where you can collect a book of any kind.
In school we also have specialist teachers to help us with languages and music. This year we are doing French but in other years we have done Spanish. In music we play and have played the cornet, piano, guitar, ukulele and drums.
Our school is split into four houses, Red Phoenix, Green Dragon, Yellow Griffin and Blue Unicorn. There are two House Captains for each house. Each year, pupils from Year Six can apply for the job of House Captain. Every Friday, the House Captains collect up house points and count them. The following Monday, we find out who won that week. At the end of the half term, the team with the most house points get a prize which could be anything the House Captains decide. The team with the most house points at the end of the year get an even bigger reward.
On Fridays at 9:00am, we have our Shine Assembly where two children from every class get chosen to show their work. If your child is in this assembly, you can come in and see their achievements. When the teachers finish talking about how amazing their chosen pupils are, they get a sprinkle of glitter on top of their head by Mrs Rickersey (Our Head Teacher).
To help our school we have a parent group called T-PAWS (Teachers- Parents At Wynndale School). They sort out a lot of fundraising and events. For example, we have discos, Summer Fayres, Christmas Craft Fayres and lots of other exciting events.
Before school starts, we have a Breakfast Club where your children can be looked after outside of school time. It is open from 7:45am until school starts. We also have an after-school Club where you can leave your child/children if you cannot pick them up at 3:30pm when school finishes.
We hope you like the sound of our remarkable school!
