Welcome to Year 3!

We are an enthusiastic class who love a challenge. We work hard to achieve our very best and support each other to be the best we can be. We always earn lots of house points because we are all such superstars!

We take part in the mile-a-day each morning and are becoming brilliant at setting a pace. Mrs Ripley can sometimes keep up!

In our class, Mrs Ripley is the class teacher and Mrs Hartshorn is our class Teaching Assistant.

On Wednesdays, Madame Harvey comes to teach us French and we are absolutely loving her sessions. Test us on our French if you come into our class!

Also on Wednesdays, Mr Moore comes to teach us a drumming lesson every other week. We are great at working as a team to put on outstanding performances in the classroom.

Homework is really important in Year 3 as we a becoming independent learners.

Children are expected to practise times tables, linked to the weekly times tables test, a few times a week as well as the corresponding division facts.

Children also have reading books which are book banded according to our reading assessments. Children in Year 3 should be reading for at least ten minutes each evening and we kindly ask that a grown up marks this in their reading diary. For every 3 reads, Mrs Ripley will give out a house point and a raffle ticket. At the end of every half term, Mrs Ripley will pull out a raffle ticket and the named child will win a prize. The more raffle tickets they have, the more chance they have of their name being pulled out.

Weekly written homework is also set each Friday and should be handed in the following Wednesday ready for marking. There is a homework tray in the classroom where children can place their homework books. Weekly homework will be printed and stuck in their homework book as well as being published in our class page each week.

Children need to have their PE kits in school each day. We change our shoes for the mile-a-day. Our PE days are Thursday and Friday.
