Mental Health & Wellbeing

At Wynndale we care a great deal about all our children and staff and their families. One of our key goals is to provide a safe and happy environment where we can promote good mental health and emotional well-being and where we can identify early behaviour changes and signs of mental distress.

During their time with us, we want to equip children with emotional skills, understanding and resilience. If we can embed these at primary school, we hope the children will have lifelong strategies to manage their mental health and emotional well-being.

We understand that if we can help children achieve positive mental health and emotional wellbeing academic achievement, success and satisfaction will follow at school and in later life.

“Mental health is defined as a state of wellbeing in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.”

(The World Health Organisation definition of mental health)
