EYFS
Our Approach to Early Years
At Wynndale Primary School, we believe that the Early Years are a vital stage in every child’s learning journey. Our Foundation Stage is a happy and caring unit, where children can explore, discover, and grow with confidence.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, which sets the standards for learning, development, and care from birth to age five. Through a balance of play-based and structured learning, we encourage children to become curious, resilient, and independent learners.
What Makes our Setting Unique
We believe we have a real balance for all children in our EYFS. Children encounter a balance of play based and structured sessions each day.
- A Caring Environment – Our dedicated staff create a safe, welcoming space where every child feels valued and confident.
Learning Through Play – We know that children learn best when they are having fun! Our days are filled with play, exploration, stories, outdoor adventures, and creative opportunities.
Structured learning opportunities- our curriculum is designed so that children have a solid basis for the rest of their school journey, with a real emphasis on early reading, writing and number skills.
Strong Partnerships with Families – We work closely with parents and carers, sharing milestones and celebrating progress together.
Areas of Learning
In line with the EYFS Framework, our provision supports children across seven areas of learning and development:
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
