Collaboration Residential February 2025
Our fourth and final day at Lambourne. Today we have been planting trees. So now Lambourne has two new trees which will grow over the coming years - Wynn and Dale. We also did a blindfolded sensory trail and visited the beehives. This afternoon it was time for some final high adrenaline experiences - the zipwire and abseiling. Our day was rounded off with a campfire, where we played instruments, sang songs and toasted marshmallows. A final hot chocolate and round or three of bingo and we were done.
What an incredible experience this week has been. The children that will be returning home on Friday afternoon are different to the ones who left home on Monday morning: braver, more confident, more knowledgeable, more worldly-wise, and with a wealth of new and exciting (sometimes scary!) experiences under their belts. They have been a credit to Wynndale Primary School.
Day 3 of our residential at Lambourne in Essex! We’ve had a whole variety of new and often challenging experiences today. Our day kicked off with some archery, followed by mountain biking in the rain - a very wet, cold and muddy experience but we persevered! After lunch we dried off with a fencing lesson before heading down into the caves to squeeze ourselves through the tunnels. Finally, we tackled the climbing wall in the dark. So proud of our Wynndale superstars! Excellent behaviour, fabulous attitude and a great spirit of determination.
Day 2 of our residential in Essex! Another great day, where once again we were treated to the sunshine. Today we were farmers! Lambourne is a working farm as well as a residential centre. After a tour of the farm and an opportunity to handle many of the animals we got to work. We fed the animals, mucked out the stables, groomed the ponies - you name it! Our reward was a rather speedy pony and cart ride round the site.
The fun didn’t end when the sun went down. We had a no-torches walk round the site in the dark following a rope, followed by a nighttime game of sardines. Some hot chocolate and bingo rounded off a perfect day!
We’ve had an amazing first day of our residential! The weather has been kind and we’ve had lots of adventures. We’ve done some team building activities including Crossing the Swamp where the children had to get to the island without touching the ground - only the tyres. We also did some rope based obstacle courses, including some over the water…and, yes, some of us fell in! We rounded off the day with a competition where we had to design a contraption that would protect an egg from a 30 foot tower drop.
What fun! Can’t wait to have some fresh adventures tomorrow.
