Our Remarkable People Curriculum
At Wynndale, we believe that every child can be inspired to achieve great things. Our Remarkable People Curriculum is designed to introduce children from Early Years through to Year 6 to individuals who have made a significant impact on the world in which they live.
Each year, every class studies three remarkable people, using the much-loved Little People, BIG DREAMS books as a starting point. These inspiring figures are carefully selected to reflect a wide range of time periods, backgrounds and fields, including the arts, science, sport, music, technology, religion, politics and activism. This ensures that children encounter diverse role models and begin to understand that success can take many different forms.
Through their learning, children explore the life stories of these individuals—beginning with their childhood experiences and following their journeys as they overcame challenges, followed their passions and ultimately fulfilled their dreams. By understanding these personal stories, our learners develop empathy, curiosity and a deeper appreciation of resilience and determination.
A key focus of our Remarkable People Curriculum is to help our learners understand the lasting impact these 'remarkable' people have had on the world we live in today. Whether through groundbreaking discoveries, creative achievements or standing up for what is right, children learn how individuals can shape history and influence the future.
Above all, our Remarkable People Curriculum shares an important and empowering message:
every Wynndale Learner has the potential to achieve their dreams and make a difference.
