Year 3

Welcome to Year 3!

A very warm welcome to all of our children and families. Year 3 is always a fantastic year of learning, growth and new experiences. It is an important and exciting step in your child’s learning journey. The children will continue to build their independence, confidence and resilience as they move into Key Stage 2. We look forward to helping every child thrive, achieve their best and enjoy coming to school each day.

At the heart of everything we do is The Wynndale Way. We encourage all children to:

Be Ready – prepared to learn, listen and try their best
Be Kind – caring, helpful and thoughtful towards others
Be Respectful – valuing everyone, our school and our learning
Be Safe – making good choices and keeping themselves and others safe

These values help us create a happy, successful classroom where everyone can learn and flourish.

Throughout the year, the children will enjoy a broad and exciting curriculum linked to the National Curriculum. In English, children will develop their reading, writing, spelling, grammar and speaking skills through high-quality texts and engaging writing opportunities. In Mathematics, they will build confidence in number, calculation, reasoning and problem solving.

Our wider curriculum includes:

Science – exploring plants, animals, forces, rocks and light through practical investigation.
History – learning about fascinating periods such as Ancient China and the Stone Age.
Geography – studying the world, maps, rivers, climates and different places.
Art and Design – drawing, painting, sculpture and learning about artists.
Design and Technology – designing, making and evaluating products.
Computing – developing digital skills, coding and online safety.
PE – improving teamwork, fitness, games skills and healthy lifestyles.
Music – singing, performing and exploring rhythm and instruments.
